Ministries

The mission of Holy Hikes has always been to work towards restoring Communion with all of Creation. Holy Hikes started in 2010 in the Episcopal Diocese of California, however we know that people everywhere are longing to worship God alongside the rest of Creation in its constant and unending hymn to the Creator. Holy Hikes has expanded into a network of ministries from coast-to-coast committed to this common mission.

Over the years, we have learned a great deal of best practices in the areas of: promotion/marketing, inclusivity of children and elders, preparing and offering liturgies outdoors, insurance/finances, practical things like vessels and vestments, picking locations, and everyday minutia. Holy Hikes is committed to helping our sister ministries flourish.

The Holy Hikes network welcomes Episcopal communities as well as full communion partners to form localized Holy Hikes ministries around the country. A list of full communion partners can be found at this link. Each sister ministry is its own ministry (independently owned and operated by its sponsoring nonprofit) and is licensed to use the Holy Hikes name and to receive the benefits of this network.
